Problem with subscription ( version 5.0.1.7 Pro )

    I paid for this app years ago. Why am I showing a "subscription" that expires in April?

    How do I "restart the app"? I've tried closing it out and going back in and that doesn't work. If I delete the app entirely and then download again from Apple it will delete my grocery list- I do NOT want to do that! HELP!!!

     

    Btw- I ALSO like above paid for this app years ago....

    secondly, WHERE did all my pictures of products go?????

    Today I chkd the subscription tab n it just says expired...period. It also said that I don't hv access to this page.

    I'm with everyone above-i paid for this app and now it's saying my subscription has expired? What is up? Fix it please-the ads take away space on the page while shopping and actually have a negative impact on the product that is being advertised. I will purposefully avoid anything that is advertised there!

    I agree with all of the above comments- I paid for this app so that I wouldn't have ads! This is ridiculous. And the fact that you snuck it in, only mentioning the new "All Lists" feature and "bug fixes" is deplorable and underhanded. You haven't released updates in ages, nor responded to requests for fixes or enhancements, but we're expected to pay now?!?
    I also can no longer move items between lists - all I get now is a delete option.

    Said exactly right Trevor. These folks screwed me out of money when they stopped supporting the Android version of this app after I had paid for it. I never could get any answer from them as to why they did that. Then, they failed to support or update the iOS app for a long time, but at least it still worked for me, so I sucked it up and kept on using the app. Now however, here they are yet again, demanding more money out of the blue with no advance warning in the notes. Hinky, underhanded BS. It would be something I could consider, paying for it yet again, if they had not already screwed me once, and they had been supporting the iOS app properly, but seriously?! No freaking way at this point. Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me more times, repeatedly, than once, and "F" you developers. Just, no.

    One of the reasons I paid for the app ( a long time ago) was so that I didn't have adds! The fact that you took my pictures away now makes you no better than any of the other grocery apps that are free mind you! I think you need to rethink our loyalty and make your financial changes with new customers only. You need to fix this immediately before you loose myself and all my family members. By the looks of these comments you might be loosing a lot of others also. It makes me wonder... Have you not heard the saying: don't bite the hand that feeds you...?

    I have bought your apps July 2009, i have paid the application because, i liked to have no add... I agree with the other costemers comments, And i see that you gave us a moutn free... it was free for all of us who paid theire subscribtion at first.  We have no ideo of the pricing however. I will not pas extra... by the way on you "grocery gadget page on the web it says:

    FREE Web Portal

    Online portal to manage all grocery lists, coupons, and recipes in a single location!  All data automatically syncs with every device in your household.

    I am a very UNHAPPY long-time user.  I've been using this app for a number of years and not only recommended it to a number of friends, but I also purchased it for a few as gifts.

    This last upgrade was the biggest "downgrade" ever.  I now have to pay for a "subscription" to get rid of ads, but that is why I purchased the app in the first place.  If you needed to gain more revenue, perhaps you could have considered adding an option to sync over multiple devices for a yearly fee.  I would have paid for that option.

    Unfortunately, your underhanded way of sneaking this subscription service to your loyal customers/users is totally unacceptable!!! If I had been aware of your intent, I would never have upgraded and continued to use the app as it was.

    I spent a lot of time and energy entering my personal items (that were not on the default lists) so that the app was perfect for me.  I am now cutting my losses and have found another app to use for my shopping lists.

    I noticed that you've pulled the app from the app store.  Perhaps all the negative reviews were not to your liking and you've finally paid attention to your loyal customers.  I will watch to see what comes of this but I doubt I will place any faith in your product again after this disaster.

    Subscription? What's going on? I've purchased and had this app for years. Are you telling me I have to make a payment again?

    I paid substantially more than the price of a standard app for Grocery Gadget. I am now being asked to pay again. By all means use a subscription for new users, but don't rip off you long term loyal customers

    I AM IRATE! I paid for this app and have used it for years. You could charge me a VERY small amount once, once in a while, for an upgrade fee. I understand that you work to upgrade the app for new operating systems and maintain the systems so we can sync between devices and the website (though the website still sucks). But a monthly or yearly subscription is NOT acceptable. I bought the app for a reason, your price was a contract and an understanding between us, it was a large part of how I decided to choose this app and not one of the many, many others. I put the time and effort into the app because of the understanding that it was worth it because of that. AND WHERE ARE MY PICTURES that I spent YEARS putting into my items? THIS IS NOT OK. I need many of those pictures to identify which items to buy or for the people who shop for me to know what to get. It's a critical part of the app, they can't just disappear. I PAID FOR THAT ALREADY. And to just do it in the middle of the day without warning is NOT OK. I was at a story when it all changed. Not OK, really terrible service, the kind that gets an app to drop from 5 star ratings to 1 star ratings, which I do not want to do. Please fix this. You deserve to be compensated but this is not the way to do it. Right now I feel ashamed that I've recommended the app to so many people. Please fix this.

    Dunromin Farms- I totally agree! Catherine Somers- that's what I said! I am SO with u!!! I too am SO TERRIBLY ashamed N EMBARRASSED that I recommended this app to SO many friends, relatives n complete strangers! Has anyone found a replacement app that HAS PICTURES??? I'm ready to cut my losses w this one!

    I don't see the problem. An average one star review on the App Store will get them LOADS of new customers. I guess the rating is plummeting by the day as long term loyal customers realise that they have been screwed over. RIP Grocery Gadget.

    Here's the problem. We no longer have the application we bought, paid for, and integrated into our lives. So now we all have to shop for a replacement.
    In order of priority for me:
    1) Restore the application as it was before they "improved" it.
    2) Refund our money and put them out of business (one way or another) and I think ratings on Apple is a part of that. Another is holding Apple accountable for allowing things like this to continue.
    Apple doesn't hesitate to address a product that may not benefit their policies or their profits.
    Abusing customers in ways similar to this is becoming more of the norm. We need to vote with our dollars and pressure those who are affilliated or directly responsible for these damages, disruptions and frustrations in our daily lives.

    Restore an older version. In my case 4.3.1.
    Lost years of notes of medicinal supplements for our health, sources, prices, and combinations of these items that worked for mine and my families health. All that data and research WIPED out because of these people's greed and their ability to avoid accountability.
    KARMA needs to catch up!
    If anyone knows if the old data was stored on my computer in Itunes and/or how to get it back, I'd appreciate knowing.
    I'm guessing if the old data is stored in itunes then a similar restore with some tweak to pull the data back on to the phone and NOT LET THE APP FLUSH the database might work. This clearing the data on a restore appears to be with mal-intent on the part of the software developers.

    The app is no longer available in the Apple App Store.  

    I haven't seen any response from the company to the multiple complaints.

    I found how to restore my photos:

    Settings>Grocery G> scroll down and select "Show Images"

    My app shows that I have a valid subscription until May 9th.  I'm not sure what will happen after that date.

    I have since found a NEW grocery app "IntilliList".  It appears to be similar to Grocery Gadget.  I gave it a quick try and paid for the full version.  It will take some time to build my personal items with photos and prices, but it will eventually get there.  I actually like some of the features and I'm still working my way through its capabilities, but so far I am happy with it.  No affiliation, yadda, yadda, yadda.

    Hi Cheri, thanks for the Intellilist link, it looks really useful. I think that I will now insist on a refund from Grocery Gadget which will pay for my replacement app.

    I like others paid for this app years ago. I have spent lots of time adding items, prices and sorting items. I will not pay more for this app that I have already paid for. So it's a no go for my on the subscription and I'm looking for a replacement app.

    UPDATE Apple have said that they cannot offer a refund and that this should be taken up with the developer. So Grocery Gadget, can I have a refund please?

    What should happen here is the developer should leave us with this version of grocery gadgets and start another new scription app.

    I can't believe you are doing this!  I spent years marking all my items with their grocery aisle for four different stores!!  Depending on the amount of the subscription I'll have to start all over.
